Research Lab

Clinical_courseOur research program was established in 1976 when funding was provided by the Les Turner ALS Foundation for Northwestern’s first ALS research laboratory. Teepu Siddique, M.D. joined Northwestern in 1991 as the Director of the Neuromuscular Disorders Program and its research component has grown exponentially since.

Our research laboratory is working to determine the causes of and treatments for diseases that affect the neuromuscular system, particularly those that involve motor neuron function, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia and ALS (ALS/FTD), primary lateral sclerosis (PLS), the hereditary spastic parapareses (HSP), and related disorders.

We are also actively pursuing clinical investigations in ALS and peripheral neuropathy.
